The output from the unit is continually optimized to promote maximum battery life. When connecting the 12VDC battery to the unit, it’s important to first make sure that the generator has been turned off. Then, turn off the utility power supply to the transfer switch. Next, remove the 7.5A fuse from the generator control panel. The red battery cable should be connected from the starter contractor to the indicated positive (+). Secondly, the black battery cable should be connected from the frame ground to the indicated negative (-). Lastly, be sure to install the battery post cover. When properly installed, the battery will be charged by the T1 line, which pulls from utility power when available, whether the unit is in the AUTO or the OFF position; the weekly exercise is not what charges the battery. When utility power is lost and the generator is providing power, the battery charger is powered off of the generator output. The integrated charger is designed to keep a battery at full charge; it will not recharge an already low or dead battery.
After ensuring proper installation, if problems still persist, it would be recommended to contact a local service provider to further diagnose the unit’s issues. To locate a dealer in your local area, please visit http://www.generac.com/Service/Deal...
