answer 2
The Guardian 20kW home standby generator will consume 3.56 gal/hr when operating under full load. Assuming that the home standby generator is operating under full load consistently with a 250 gallon tank, the liquid propane will last just under 3 days (2.91 days). However, the generator may not always be operating at full load depending on your home application. Additionally, you could install a larger propane tank for longer run time, we simply do not recommend a tank smaller than 250 gallons.

We ran our 20kw unit 4 days 24/7 when hurricane Mathew came over. Don’t know the cubic feet propane conversion, but it worked out to about 1 gallon per hour.

This is for a 3300+ ft house running Air, lights, fans water heater. We did’t turn anything off- just ran it all (it was an opportunity to test the unit under real world conditions). I’m sure that had we budgeted power it would have used a bit less.

The smallest propane tank we recommend for use with our automatic standby generators is a 250 gallon tank. You will want to work with your local propane supplier to determine the exact size tank that would be necessary for your application based off the volume and pressure requirements of the unit. The 20kW home standby generator consumes 3.56 gal/hr at full load.

THE SIZE OF THE LINE IS DETERMINED BY THE GAS COMPANY PROVIDER IN YOUR AREA. HOWEVER, FROM THE GENERATOR TO THE CONNECTION POINT THE SIZE IS DETERMINED BY THE DISTANCE MEASSURED IN FEET. [ MY GENERATOR IS A GENERAC 22KW STANDBY THE DISTANCE IS 9 FEET AND THE PIPE SIZE IS 1 INCH. THE NG PRESSURE IS DETERMINED BY THE LOCAL GAS COMPANY AND IT IS RELATED TO THE SIZE OF YOUR METER AND IF YOU HAVE NATURAL GAS. YOU CAN CONTACT YOUR LOCAL GAS COMPANY AND THEY CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH THIS INFORMATION.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE NATURAL GAS IN YOUR AREA THE GENERATOR CAN ALSO WORK WITH INDIVIDUAL PROPANE TANKS WHICH, ARE PRESURIZED WHEN YOU FILL UP THE TANKS.

Yes, models #7043, #7077, and #7039 are still being manufactured. If you are trying to determine the best generator for your home, we recommend working with an authorized Generac dealer. The generator size needed will depend upon the power requirements of all the circuits and appliances you want to backup.

According to NEC code, the transfer switch amperage must meet the amperage of the utility coming into your home for whole home backup applications. As such, you must use an automatic transfer switch that is 150 A. The unit that you are referring to is prepackaged with the 200 A switch, so you would need to purchase the standalone unit and the corresponding automatic transfer switch.

When the generator and transfer switch are properly installed, the transfer switch will change to generator power when utility power is not detected and back when utility returns. The transfer switch itself only has one switch, which is the service disconnect. When in the "off" position the switch is using utility power and when in the "on" position it is using generator power.
