The dilution ratio required can differ for each application. The pumps on our power washers are not metered, as it is a direct suction from the tank through the pump. Meaning, the concentration of the cleaning agent does not change as it goes through the power washer, and the mix rate in the chemical tank will be pulled through the high pressure water stream, staying the same through the spray gun. There are many factors that can affect the dilution rate for the chemical tank, such as the GPM rate, the viscosity of the detergent being used, and the size of the orifice on the soap nozzle you are using. The 2700 psi Residential Power Washer has a rating of approximately 2.7 GPM; you may be able to use this GPM rating to compare to the recommendations for your particular cleaning agent.

Currently Generac does not offer a telescoping wand or wand extension accessory for use with our power washers. Soaps made for pressure washers, or liquid auto soap, can be utilized, and are typically available at the same location where the power washer is being purchased. Please ensure that the soap is not a bleach or acid based soap as it could damage the pump.

When detergent is needed, ensure that the soap nozzle is properly connected to the lance, the siphon hose is attached to the pump, and that the filter end of the siphon hose is fully submerged into the desired detergent. Once these steps are completed, with the unit running, depressing the trigger on the gun will cause the water drawn through the pump to pull detergent into the stream. When detergent is no longer needed, we recommend ensuring that the siphon hose and pump are properly flushed according to the directions in the owner’s manual to prevent damage to the other nozzles. Once the system has been properly flushed, the detergent hose can be removed from the connection point on the pump, and the desired pressure nozzle can be utilized.

Question

What size is the oil drain nut on a 3000 psi residential unit?

The oil drain is incredibly convoluted to use and gets oil over everything. Needs to be improved somehow. Can 5w-30 synthetic oil be used as long as the oil level is monitored? The nut is incredibly hard to get at AND is apparently of an "odd" metric size..

When starting a power washer, whether it is being started cold or warm, we always recommend ensuring the unit has oil to the full mark on the dipstick, that it has fuel and the fuel shut off valve is on, and that the choke is to the full choke position. If the unit is hard to start, but will run once it is started, we do recommend checking the spark plug to ensure it isn’t dirty, and to ensure that the gap is set properly. If the unit still does not start properly after checking these items, we would then recommend contacting a certified servicing dealer. To locate a certified servicing dealer in your area, search your postal code here: http://www.generac.com/Service/Deal....

The Long Term Storage instructions that are located in the owner’s manual will detail protection of the pump and fuel system. A copy of the owner’s manual can be located online by searching the model or serial number for the unit here: http://www.generac.com/Service/Manu.... Damage to the unit due to freezing temperatures, improper storage, or neglect are not warrantable. We recommend that after properly preparing the unit for storage, it be kept it in a dry environment, such as a garage or shed, with any gasoline stored safely in an appropriate container.

The 3100psi Residential Series Power Washer will have an oil capacity of 20 ounces (0.6 liters). The “H” on the dipstick is the high (full) mark. When adding oil, it should be added to the “H” marking. Please note that these units are tested at the factory, and there may be oil left in the crankcase. Always utilize the dipstick when adding oil to ensure that the unit is not overfilled.
During operation, when the oil level reaches the “L” mark, that means the oil level is low, and oil should be added. The oil capacity information, as well as other specifications for this unit, are located in the Product Specifications section of the owner’s manual. To locate a copy of the owner’s manual online, search the model or serial number for the unit here: http://www.generac.com/Service/Manu....

When utilizing a power washer, we require a minimum of 10 feet of unrestricted garden hose for proper water supply, and a maximum of 50 feet. Any hose longer than 50 feet will allow too large of a pressure drop to properly supply the pump with water. This decrease in water pressure can damage the pump on the power washer. Utilizing a larger diameter hose may potentially alleviate the loss in pressure; however, we as the manufacturer do not recommend a garden hose longer than 50 feet, and any damage done to the pressure washer due to using an improperly sized garden hose will void the factory warranty.
Generac does not offer an extension to the high pressure hose provided with the power washer. If a longer high pressure hose is necessary, the hose should have a minimum diameter of 3/8” to ensure proper water flow. The hose that is provided with this unit is 1/4” diameter, but when lengthening the hose you may have a need for more pressure, so if you increase the hose size, you increase the amount of water flowing through, allowing a longer hose to be usable for this unit. We cannot guarantee that other manufacturer’s parts and accessories will be compatible with this unit, and we cannot guarantee the unit will operate properly with a longer high pressure hose. Damage done to the unit from using an improperly sized high pressure hose will void the factory warranty.

The water supply must be adequate to handle greater than 3.8 gallons per minute and no less than 30 psi. Do not siphon standing water for the water supply, and ensure that you use only cold water (less than 100°F). This information can be located in the owner’s manual for the unit under the Set-up section. The 3100PSI Residential Series Power Washer does not come with quick connect fittings for the gun and hose. These two features are connected through a M22 Threaded Connection. The Pressure Washer does utilize quick change fittings for the Lance to Nozzle Connections. Please note that connection methods should not be modified for safety and performance reasons. Modifying the power washer will also void the factory warranty.

answer 1
The 3100psi Residential Power Washer would be acceptable for washing cars as long as the correct nozzles are utilized for rinsing and washing. The smaller the degree rating of the nozzle, the more powerful the water stream will be, which could potentially cause unintended damage to the paint or surface of the car. Exercising caution when using the power washer will help prevent unintended damage. The 3100psi model would be better suited for tougher cleaning jobs, such as cleaning a driveway, or removing stubborn stains, grease, oil, etc.
