Question

Oil Level

Do you tilt the generator on it's side to fill with oil?
The illustrations indicate a slanted oil fill tube, but the iX2000 looks very straight.

If tilted on the side, still fill to the threads?
Is there any danger of over-filling?

Per the unit's owner's manual, Generac's IX2000 portable inverter generator, model number 6719, should be placed on a firm, level surface when oil is being added. The oil level can be checked by removing the oil filler cap; the oil level should be at the bottom of the threads on the oil fill pipe. Do not overfill the unit with oil, as this can cause high oil pressure that can cause premature engine wear and damage. Please note that any issues incurred to a unit due to negligent service will not be covered under the product's warranty. If you do not have access to your product's documentation, it can be obtained online by using your product's model or serial number for searching purposes via the following link: http://www.generac.com/service-supp.... Generac's iX series portable inverter generators cannot be converted to run on a propane fuel source. This is do in part to the fact that these units are manufactured for use with fresh unleaded gasoline featuring a minimum Research Octane Number (RON) of 87. Moreover, we do not recommend using any gasoline containing more than 10% Ethanol. Never fill the tank with E85, or a mixture of oil and gasoline designated for two-cycle engines. Please note that attempting to modify the unit in any way will immediately void the product's warranty. However, if you are looking for a portable generator that can run on a liquid propane fuel source, we would recommend considering our LP Series units. The FlexPower™ switch is not necessarily intended for use once a specified load is placed on the generator; it is more so intended for use when any accessories connected to the unit are going to be used intermittently (i.e. a hand drill). When loads do not demand continuous power, the FlexPower switch can be pushed to the ON position to lower the generator's engine speed when loads are not being applied (i.e. hand drill is connected, but not being utilized). This feature helps to save fuel and reduces engine wear and tear over time. If you have any other product-related inquiries, please contact us directly at 888-GENERAC (436-3722).

Generac's iX2000 portable inverter generator, model number 6719, features an AC rated output of 2,000 running watts and a 120 VAC amperage of 16.7 amps. As the unit features a run time of 4.7 hours at 25% load, running the unit at 80% load for 24 straight hours is not possible. However, if you are able to perform the necessary maintenance tasks at the proper intervals, extended use would be possible. Please know that operating the unit does not help to preserve the product's life alone. The maintenance-related tasks that are specified in the unit's owner's manual will help to ensure that the unit is able to operate for years to come. If you would like to learn more about the maintenance required by these particular units, please know that a copy of the unit's owner's manual can be obtained online via the following link: http://www.generac.com/service-supp... . Question

High DC voltage and overload light

I have used this generator very few hours and when preparing it for the winter I had over 20v on the DC side and the overload light was on for the AC power. I let it run for over 10 min, so it was warmed up and running smoothly and restarted several times and it always was overloaded with nothing plugged in. What causes this?

Per the General Information and Setup section in your unit's owner's manual, the Overload LED light indicates system overload. During motor starting, it is normal for the overload LED to illuminate for a few seconds. If the LED stays illuminated and the ready LED turns off, the engine will continue to run without output power. If this happens, remove all applied loads and determine if the attached devices exceed recommended output power. Review attached cords for any faulty or shorted connections, then press and hold the reset button for one second and release. The red overload LED should then turn off. Loads can be reapplied once the green ready LED illuminates. If the red LED returns, however, we would then recommend contacting an independent authorized service provider in your local area for any diagnostic or servicing work that your unit may require. Please know that these trained professionals are able to provide any applicable warranty coverage to your unit as well. To locate an independent authorized service provider closest to you, please use your postal code for searching purposes here: http://www.generac.com/dealer-locat... . Please know that maximum power decreases about 3.5% for each 1,000 feet above sea level and will also decrease about 1% for each 6°C (10°F) above 16°C (60°F) ambient temperature. If you are having issues operating your unit at certain altitudes or in particular climates, we would recommend ensuring that you are following the preparation and/or troubleshooting tasks highlighted in your unit's owner's manual prior to attempting startup. If issues persist after performing these tasks, we would recommend contacting an independent authorized service provider in your local area to ensure that your unit does not require additional servicing. If you no longer have access to your product's documentation please know that a duplicate copy can be obtained online via the following link: http://www.generac.com/service-supp... . Unfortunately, we are unfamiliar with the electrical intricacies of the furnace that you have identified. To ensure that you are utilizing the appropriate product for your portable power needs, we would recommend working with an independent authorized dealer in your local area. To locate an independent authorized dealer closest to you, please use your postal code for searching purposes here: http://www.generac.com/dealer-locat... .

We can confirm, however, that the iX Series inverter technology takes the raw power produced by the generator and passes it through a special electronic microprocessor to provide clean and stable power, safe for computers and other sensitive electronic devices. The total harmonic distortion for the iX Series units is less than 5%. If you have any other product-related comments, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at 888-GENERAC (436-3722).

Question

What kind of sine wave does the 6719 have, pure or modified also what makes this generator be named inverter?

Inverters come in to flavors, modified sine wave or pure/true sine wave. So do generators so what kind of sine wave does yours operate with. A pure/true sine wave is the same as house hold 110 ac and works well with microwaves and electronics like tv's and computers. Modified does not work as well with microwaves and can cause static in tv screens and stereo sound.
