Generac's iX series portable inverter generators cannot be converted to run on a propane fuel source. This is do in part to the fact that these units are manufactured for use with fresh unleaded gasoline featuring a minimum Research Octane Number (RON) of 87. Moreover, we do not recommend using any gasoline containing more than 10% Ethanol. Never fill the tank with E85, or a mixture of oil and gasoline designated for two-cycle engines. Please note that attempting to modify the unit in any way will immediately void the product's warranty. However, if you are looking for a portable generator that can run on a liquid propane fuel source, we would recommend considering our LP Series units.
