Generac's iX series portable inverter generators cannot be converted to run on a propane fuel source. This is do in part to the fact that these units are manufactured for use with fresh unleaded gasoline featuring a minimum Research Octane Number (RON) of 87. Moreover, we do not recommend using any gasoline containing more than 10% Ethanol. Never fill the tank with E85, or a mixture of oil and gasoline designated for two-cycle engines. Please note that attempting to modify the unit in any way will immediately void the product's warranty. However, if you are looking for a portable generator that can run on a liquid propane fuel source, we would recommend considering our LP Series units. To learn more about these products, please visit the following link: http://www.generac.com/all-products.... The FlexPower™ switch is not necessarily intended for use once a specified load is placed on the generator; it is more so intended for use when any accessories connected to the unit are going to be used intermittently (i.e. a hand drill). When loads do not demand continuous power, the FlexPower switch can be pushed to the ON position to lower the generator's engine speed when loads are not being applied (i.e. hand drill is connected, but not being utilized). This feature helps to save fuel and reduces engine wear and tear over time. If you have any other product-related inquiries, please contact us directly at 888-GENERAC (436-3722).

Generac's iX2000 portable inverter generator, model number 6719, features an AC rated output of 2,000 running watts and a 120 VAC amperage of 16.7 amps. As the unit features a run time of 4.7 hours at 25% load, running the unit at 80% load for 24 straight hours is not possible. However, if you are able to perform the necessary maintenance tasks at the proper intervals, extended use would be possible. Please know that operating the unit does not help to preserve the product's life alone. The maintenance-related tasks that are specified in the unit's owner's manual will help to ensure that the unit is able to operate for years to come. If you would like to learn more about the maintenance required by these particular units, please know that a copy of the unit's owner's manual can be obtained online via the following link: http://www.generac.com/service-supp... . Question

High DC voltage and overload light

I have used this generator very few hours and when preparing it for the winter I had over 20v on the DC side and the overload light was on for the AC power. I let it run for over 10 min, so it was warmed up and running smoothly and restarted several times and it always was overloaded with nothing plugged in. What causes this?

Per the General Information and Setup section in your unit's owner's manual, the Overload LED light indicates system overload. During motor starting, it is normal for the overload LED to illuminate for a few seconds. If the LED stays illuminated and the ready LED turns off, the engine will continue to run without output power. If this happens, remove all applied loads and determine if the attached devices exceed recommended output power. Review attached cords for any faulty or shorted connections, then press and hold the reset button for one second and release. The red overload LED should then turn off. Loads can be reapplied once the green ready LED illuminates. If the red LED returns, however, we would then recommend contacting an independent authorized service provider in your local area for any diagnostic or servicing work that your unit may require. Please know that these trained professionals are able to provide any applicable warranty coverage to your unit as well. To locate an independent authorized service provider closest to you, please use your postal code for searching purposes here: http://www.generac.com/dealer-locat... . Per the product's owner's manual, the iX2000 portable inverter generator, model number 6719, should be filled with clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline featuring a minimum rating of 87 octane/87 AKI (91 RON). Up to 10% ethanol (gasohol) is acceptable; where available, non-ethanol-premium fuel is recommended. Moreover, we do not recommend alternative fueling options like E85 or using a gas/oil mix. Modifying the engine to run on alternative fuels will immediately void the product's warranty. If you have any other product-related inquiries, please know that we can be reached 24/7 at 888-GENERAC (436-3722).

Generally, SAE30 will work, but you should select the oil's viscosity grade according to the expected operating temperature, only a little more than 1/2 quart is needed.

Above 40F, use SAE 30
Below 40F - 10F, use SAE 10W-30

The iX2000 does not have outlets that easily facilitate connection to a transfer switch. Also, it is likely provides too little power to make such an installation effective. If you're considering a portable generator to connect to a manual transfer switch, we recommend a unit with no less than 5000 watts.

As long as the running watts for the sump pump combined with any other appliances you're running simultaneously does not exceed 2000 watts, then yes this unit should have no trouble providing that power. Additionally, be sure to account for sump pump motor starting, which could require 2 - 3 times the units running watts for a few seconds just to start the motor.
